An Urban Garden with Egg Laying Chickens

Urban Garden Raised Garden Beds

Every morning, around 8 a.m., you can find me and my daughter outside, visiting our egg-laying chickens, and walking through our raised garden beds to check for ripe vegetables.  Our back yard is a haven, an escape from the city –I think that’s why urban gardens are so popular these days.

This morning, as we enjoyed the cool morning air and our morning routine, I took some photos that I thought you might enjoy.  If anything, maybe this can be your escape too!

Oliver + S Lazy Days Free Skirt Pattern

Oliver + S Lazy Days Free Skirt Pattern

I’m teaching a sewing camp in my home this week and one of the items my students made was this adorable Oliver + S Lazy Days Free Skirt Pattern.  I made one for my daughter and used it as a sample for my students.  The pattern was well written, super easy, and the results were adorable.

A Yellow and Gray Quilt

Before I head off to Art Fair Jackson Hole, I wanted to share one last quilt with you.  Yellow and gray is so trendy these days, and I sincerely love the combination.  I hope you do too.  I’m really pleased with how this design turned out.  Enjoy!

My Summer Sewing Projects

I’ve been busy sewing lots of summer projects as I prepare for Art Fair Jackson Hole and Sun Valley Arts and Crafts Festival.  Along with that, I currently have 11 custom orders that I’m working on, and I’m teaching kids at a few summer camps.  Needless to say, my summer has been more work than play.  The good news is, I have some work to share with you today, and I’ll have more work to share in the days/weeks to come.

Each of these has vinyl pockets to hold photographs.

Lastly, I’ve made a few more applique textile art pieces with a wedding theme.  These pieces of textile art are meant to remind any married couple of their actual wedding day, yet the mirror in the image reminds them of everyday there after, spent together, side-by-side.  Marriage starts with one happy memory, and yet opens a door for a future full of many more.
