I’ve been busy sewing lots of summer projects as I prepare for Art Fair Jackson Hole and Sun Valley Arts and Crafts Festival. Along with that, I currently have 11 custom orders that I’m working on, and I’m teaching kids at a few summer camps. Needless to say, my summer has been more work than play. The good news is, I have some work to share with you today, and I’ll have more work to share in the days/weeks to come.
Here’s a quilt I just finished. I love the simplicity and the brightness of it. And as always, the raw edges on the applique are turned under. Here’s the back:
Along with that, I’ve also made a few more applique wall art pieces for kids, with vinyl photo pockets.
Each of these has vinyl pockets to hold photographs.
Lastly, I’ve made a few more applique textile art pieces with a wedding theme. These pieces of textile art are meant to remind any married couple of their actual wedding day, yet the mirror in the image reminds them of everyday there after, spent together, side-by-side. Marriage starts with one happy memory, and yet opens a door for a future full of many more.

That applique that goes over the edge of the quilt is brilliant! I love it!
You always do such cute, creative things!
Love that yellow flower quilt! And I’ve been wondering where you’ve been! We missed you at the last meeting
And – what is that yellow mum flower as the wallpaper on the bride and groom? I love it!
Thanks Leah. I’ve been crazy busy lately, and so I missed the last meeting. I’m really going to try to make this next one though, and I might even bring a new quilter friend I met yesterday. I miss you ladies
I think that fabric is an Anthology fabric from a designer named Khristian. Her fabrics are great!
These quilts are all so inventive! What method did you use for the appliques?
I use multiple methods –always turned edge though, unless I’m using wool felt. For the flower quilt, I used template plastic to form all the petals and backed the entire flower with an extra piece of batting to give it some extra depth. For the wall art pieces, I used freezer paper turned edge applique. Hope that helps!
