I realize that this post is about a week and a half late, but none the less, I wanted to share my quilt market experience.  Overwhelming is the first word that comes to mind –along with amazing and inspiring.  I tried my hardest to take great photos for you all, but at times booths were too busy, or I was too distracted by all the talent around me.  Nonetheless, here are photos of my favorite booths.

The fabric I use most often:  Robert Kaufman Kona Solids

Lately, Kona solids seem to be all I use.  I sometimes use them alone, or I mix them with my favorite prints.  Either way, they are a must have!

My favorite new organic line:  Pick a Bunch by Nancy Mims of Mod Green Pod

I’m excited to see all the new organic fabrics that are coming out.  It seems that Robert Kaufman is behind a lot of these new and affordable organic lines.  Hopefully, one day, they will pick me up as a designer too.

My favorite local fabric designer:  Lizzy House’s 1001 Peeps

Lizzy lives just a few blocks from my house –can you believe that?  She is very talented.  I love her new line of fabric as it is unique, has great fillers, and comes in great colors.

My newly discovered favorite designer:  Tula Pink

I’m embarrassed to say that before this years quilt market, I didn’t know who Tula Pink was.  I’m so glad that I stumbled across her fabulous booth –instantly I was drawn in.  She was incredibly nice, and her fabrics and patterns are amazing.  This is a new name I’m going to look for when I’m shopping design fabrics online.

The kindest and most humble designer:  Amy Butler

I’ve met Amy Butler a few times now, and each time I’ve “met” her, I have been blown away by how warm and humble she is.  Her talent and success is obvious, and know by all –except her possibly.  Again this year, she has come out with more great designs.  I’m especially excited about her amazing prints on corduroy.  What a fun textile for bags, clothing, and home decor.

My favorite booth overall + my favorite quilt patterns:  Zen Chic by Brigitte Heitland

“Oh my word”, was all I could say when I stepped into Zen Chic’s booth.  I was absolutely stopped in my tracks.  When you are at quilt market, after a while, all the booths start to look the same.  Well, that was not the case with Brigitte’s booth.  Every aspect of her booth was perfect.  I absolutely adored her and her work!  Her patterns are unique, innovative, and completely modern.  Along with that, she also had a neat collection of fabric designs that I really liked.  She was a complete joy to talk with.  I wish her the best of luck, as this was her very first year at market –just amazing!

My favorite children’s patterns:  oliver + s

My style for children’s clothing matches Liesl Gibson’s designs perfectly.  I’m always looking for patterns when it comes to clothing, and I’m happy to have stumbled across her fabulous booth at market.
